You Can Help Create a Sustainable Amherst!

You can help create a sustainable Amherst in many ways!

Spread the Word - Make folks in our town aware of the need for a strong economy to support our schools and services. Let folks know that you are voting for people who share these ideas and values.

Vote - Don't forget to vote! Elections in Amherst can be decided by as few as 10 votes.  The biggest problem in creating a SustainableAmherst has been rational voters taking the time to go to the polls.  Please take a minute and vote for a Sustainable Amherst!

Support a Candidate or Campaign - Help with a campaign of someone committed to a Sustainable Amherst. Alisa Brewer ran for Select Board, Andy Churchill for School Committee in the past election and were both elected.  Many SustainableAmherst endorsed candidates won election to Town Meeting. These campaigns can always use a hand.

Run for Town Meeting - Town Meeting needs more members that support a Sustainable Amherst. Check out the town website for lots of information on Town Meeting. Elections are held each March. There are always 8 seats in each of the 10 precincts up for election. The time commitment is not too bad, just about 12-14 nights a year, usually around May/June/November.

Join a Town Committee - Amherst is run by many volunteers who serve on our town committees. If you've got an interest, we've got a committee. From the Finance Committee to the Conservation Commission to the Planning Board to the other 50 or so committees, there's a place you can help! Just fill out the Citizen Activity Form.
